It really depends on the bank and your credit. I have two accounts at different banks. At Canada Trust, they want to hold US cheques for 30 business days -- that's nearly a month and a half when you factor in weekends and the odd holiday. This even (...) (25 years ago, 25-Mar-00, to lugnet.loc.ca)

Hi guys, I had the chance yesterday to check out a a retailer's catalog, which had pictures of all the new stuff being introduced this year. I'd seen pictures of most of it before. (...) I did some digging on US Cheques in Canadian banks before I started selling on ebay. Some Banks hold the cheques for 30 days! If you don't have a US account set up they can hold it for that long. It takes 3 times the time to ensure that a (...) (25 years ago, 20-Mar-00, to lugnet.loc.ca)

(...) It's possible, but not usual. Like Ralph's, my bank in Vancouver BC allows me to access the money immediately but if a check bounced they would of course debit my account again. I allow 10 days for clearing, but since I've never had a check (...) (25 years ago, 20-Mar-00, to lugnet.loc.ca)
