Hi folks,
ANNOUNCE: Toronto Robotics Lego Event - Saturday, May 27, 2000
Calum and I have been talking about the next Lego Robotics
Event,
entitled "Primal Rage in ABS :)" and have selected May 27th, 2000 as the
date. It will be our fifth Lego event here in Toronto and will
introduce
a new robot contest as well as continuing to feature the marble sorting
game in the previous two.
Please email me if you have any
comments, suggestions AND if you foresee any problems with May 27th.
Here's
a general overview of the activities planned:
Marble Harvester Competition - Previous game as before, detailed on the
website, with a scoring change: Good and Bad marbles inside the vehicle
are counted as +2/-4, and Good marbles in the home square are counted as
+3, and Bad marbles are counted as -4.
RobotSumo Competition - A new game, already tried at the University of
Guelph's College Royal event in mid March. Two robots are put in a 3-4'
ring (coffee table minus legs) and started. The first bot pushed out
(ie,
falls off the edge and hits the surface underneath the tabletop) of the
ring loses. Was a real crowd pleaser out in Guelph.
Qualification Round - To make the entire event go faster, there will be
a
qualification round for robots an hour before the actual competition
starts for both contests. This will be to make sure all bots are
operational and to keep the pace of matches-bots which don't qualify
will
not play.
Rules for both competitions will be posted shortly on the
website:
