I have thousands of bits - never bothered to count and I use those 2 litre ice
cream containers
I have bought some small trays for the liddle widdle bits
But the IC containers are great you can stack them up ( so long as they are not
full ) they hold heaps and are basically free once the contents have been
consumed.

I started with a bucket for each colour, until it became hard to find pieces amongst the black elements. I still use a few for holding minifigs, (...)
