Pete W and Dave L: Couldn't find the 6175 on Saturday but they were
in the middle of moving all the Lego to one shelf from where it had been
scattered around on aisle ends, so it could very well still be there
somewhere, will check again sometime this week. This set was definitely
there before, my son had been at me for weeks about the Octopus.
If it turns up I'll grab it, if you decide neither of you want it
I guess he'll be a happy little boy :)
Dave L, the 6746 was $44.50, however I have a funny feeling that I've
seen this at Harris Scarfe and they are in stocktake mode, good chance
of 20% off in the next few weeks, do you want me to grab one if I can
get it at the discount? Another thought is, I'm a bit suspicious as to why
Coles are suddenly putting out all their old Lego, it _could_ be that they
are gearing up for a pre-GST clearance, however if they don't do this
it will most likely sit there full-price forever and a day. There are
at least 5 of the 6746 at Coles so I can keep an eye on the situation for
you (I shop there once a week) and let you know if a special comes up
or stocks start to dwindle. Let me know what you want me to do, if
anything.

There used to be some "Coles Variety" stores in the north of the state
which could be described as supermarkets with mini Kmarts inside, dunno
whether these had Lego. Down south, a couple of the ordinary supermarkets
had tiny variety sections including small Lego Freestyle and impulse-type
System sets. Around 1997 this particular supermarket got all excited and
installed a well-stocked toy section including lots of Lego, this lasted
about a year before disappearing.
I'd assumed that it had all been sold on clearance (it wasn't my local
supermarket at the time) but the old toys have been coming out in dribs
and drabs since last Christmas, the Duplo appeared earlier this year with
a few System sets (including the 6175), the rest of the System has
appeared over the last couple of weeks.
