On a lesser point, it is surprising to me that there is all this kerfuffel • in
the press about growing human organs and limbs in/on other species,
as though its a whole new deal.  I've been using monkeys as a source

It depends -- have you got ethics committee approval?

Uhh huh.

My glass of single malt scotch whisky and I discussed the issue in detail
with some most excellent extra buttery shortbread, and we decided
(unanimously I might add) that these were probably not in fact luminescent
mauve rhinos goose-stepping through my lounge room, that we should bring
back Dougie, and that the rendering limbless of monkey figs, in the interest
of minifig quality of life was perfectly reasonable, and a <<expletive
indicating passionate endorsement deleted>> fine show.

After all, we found that if you gave the limbs back at some point, the
monkey was fine.  We decided that in point of fact we were only *borrowing*
monkey limbs, and since the monkeys themselves had not complained, there was
no cause of action.

At that point, one of the non-existent luminescent mauve rhinos accidentally
knocked the room off its gimbals, and it took quite a bit of concentration
to get it back on again without falling off the lounge chair.

By the time we had done that, the monkeys had turned into turnips that had
grown into rude and amusing shapes, so the whole thing seemed a bit moot.

Still, it seems to me the judgement stands, no?

Richard
Still baldly going...
