Keep calm, Pete!
I have 4721 Hogwarts Classrooms and its little friends 4722 Gryffindor Tower
and 4723 Diagnon Alley, and to my eyes at least, the pink appears to be the
same colour on all of the pink parts in these sets. I just took them out into
strong daylight and I still can't see any difference. The only possible
difference I can discern is that the rounded parts like the Scala round things
with protrusions tend to reflect the light differently to the flatter surfaces
of the seat, which can make them look a little lighter than the seats, but I
still think the plastic is the same colour.
However, I am convinced there are two different shades of orange involved in
these sets. The orange colour of various bricks and plates is a bit different
to the orange colour used on the various doorframes and mirror frame and other
furniture items. The brick orange seems more pumpkin-y while the doorframes etc
seem more Seville orange.
I got these sets at S@H (as you've probably guessed since they aren't in the
shops here). They were AUD20 each from memory. Each set consists of two scenes,
each built on an 8x8 plate, with a cardboard backdrop to display them against.
Although there is nothing to say that they are Scala sets, there are good
reasons for thinking that they are from the Scala designers because:
1. they are very much "doll's house" in their nature -- not a lot of
walls/structure but lots of furnishings and accessories
2. they are an absolute riot of less common colours: pink, orange, purple,
turquoise, light green, and lots of trans-colours, with only the occasional
white/grey/black brick for the odd bit of structure.
3. they use the funny 1x1 Scala plate with the flower-like protrusions that you
never seem to see in non-Scala sets
4. they weren't sold in Australia where we don't get Scala
Personally I think they are very cute and a great source of accessory items. My
favourite is probably Diagnon Alley with Hogwarts Classroom a very close
second. I'd rate Gryffindor Tower lowest as I don't think the 4-poster bed
really works with the curtain and the tiny blanket; also this set has the
lowest number of interesting accessories.
