Ah, that announcement got my hopes up briefly. For some reason my mind
registered it as au.lego.com rather than lego.au.com, I was vaguely
wondering why we'd got a locational name for Lego shop at home when no-one
else had, only to be hit with a dreadful case of reality when I followed the
link and realised straight away that it was a private concern.
I can see that with the brazen use of the trademark name in that way that
the uninitiated may be fooled into thinking it's a genuine Lego company
effort, not good. On the other hand, if whoever is running the site can
overcome the legal problems (as James mentioned) and offer a good service,
I'm all for it, especially as Lego themselves don't seem to be in too much
of a hurry to offer a much needed service (or at least to keep us informed
about the progress towards it.)
Whether lego.au.com can overcome the hurdles remains to be seen. Even if
they do, I wonder what the real Shop At Home service will do it (it will
arrive one day, right?). Splat.
BTW I'd settle for being able to get items from the standard Lego Australia
range right now, sets that are only available overseas are the least of my
worries at the moment!
