What kind of sets should I look at getting to obtain the right kinds of
building materials for my castle? I have looked at some of the castle-themed
sets on-line but am wondering if perhaps they are not really all that
suitable for a more realistic-looking castle.

Comments? Suggestions?

Kerry,

Please forgive my intrusion into the .au ng (not being from .au and all), but
I remembered browsing through the previous CLSotW links recently and found Dr.
Robert Carney's castle site. He has done some really impressive models of real
castles, including the Chateau de Chillon:

http://www.end.com/~jynx/castles/chillon/index.html

Perhaps this link will help you with ideas for your own version of this
impressive structure. From Dr. Carney's FAQ, a lot (20k+ grey pieces alone
(!!)) of grey brick packs and red roof packs, would be in order.  Or more
castles than I'd care to dream of from a monetary standpoint...

(Someone please smack me around a little if I've breeched proper protocol in
any way by posting as I have. If so, it was done purely unawares and only with
best possible intentions.)

Joel
