Thankyou David for a very helpful answer!

I think the 8448 was TRU too but we don't have TRU in Tas. Does anyone who
frequents these stores know of any that have either of these sets? If so,
I'd appreciate an email with the store location and price if you can remember,
I might have to give the phone and credit card (if it can stand the strain!)
a work out.
Does anyone know if TRUs Play-Buy scheme is offered in the stores or
is this just applicable to the TRU Direct (out of Canberra)? It's like
lay-by but you can take it up front and they charge instalments to your
credit card.

I tried to get one of these late last year and early this year, none of
these anywhere in Tassie, I wasn't too worried though as I thought we'd
get a comparable model in a year or two. A friend of mine has one, and
my son thinks it is just the best thing he's ever seen and although
he's too young for it, I'm not!
Any of these kicking around the mainland still?

Are you likely to buy these? I'll look forward to a review if you do!
(or someone else)
Thanks

| Being in the same situation (building up a Technics parts collection from nothing over the past year), I'd agree with David entirely on the merits of the 8480 Space Shuttle, 8448 Super Car Mark 2, and 8462 Pneumatic Tow Truck. I've bought all 3 and (...) (24 years ago, 21-Jul-00, to lugnet.loc.au)

| Interesting that 3 replies (1 in email) all recommended the same sets - thanks everyone! Well I've missed out on an 8480 (not sure whether to be sad or happy about that, happy comes from not having to find the money!) and I've arranged to buy an (...)
