Well, that answers one question...whether the text was readable.
As to the 'sexist' text....I'm not sure if this is correct, but from my own
observation, boys seem to have a fascination for mechanical devices
[including vehicles] and like to use tools like their Father's do, whereas
girls in general don't seem to be interested in this. [of course, this is
looking back to when I was around that age :) ] In my opinion, children
should be free to decide what they want to play with, and no doubt the
catalogue was written as a way of showing that these sets would have more
appeal to boys than girls, and not to say that girls can't/won't use them.
[Also note that all lego catalogues are printed in Germany, and designed in
Denmark, so we could also be seeing a translation of a european catalogue
from a 'less enlightened' country. (except this catalogue has no official
number or printers information, and so could be an Australian
designed/printed catalogue, which would kill off that theory)]

| (...) own (...) So says a man :-) Unless you are on the receiving end of sexism, you probably don't notice it as much. I'm on the receiving end a lot, and so I am somewhat hyper-sensitive. For example, mail and e-mail sent to me by strangers is (...) (24 years ago, 20-Jun-00, to lugnet.loc.au)
