G’day,

The Great Breath Some Life into .loc.au Competition

Prizes have been donated by Mel Caddick, OzBricks and Richie Dulin.

Entry is open to all MOCs submitted by Australians, of an Australian theme, or submitted by a person physically in Australia. This gives Australians a certain edge, but doesn’t automatically exclude anyone.

The prizes are as follows:

The Booby Prize - The Best Worst MOC

    1393 Matoro {McDonald's Promo Set #6}
8 elements, 0 figures, US$2, 2001
LEGO > TECHNIC > BIONICLE > Promotional > McDonald's
Sponsored by Richie
The Best Worst MOC will be something that’s creatively bad. Perhaps a Grand Admiral Jack Stone figure thoughtlessly infringing someone elses intellectual property while driving a wingless spacecraft made entirely of new light grey bricks?

5th Prize - The most humourous entry

$10

Sponsored by Mel
$10 Voucher at Mel’s Bricklink Shop Exercise your sense of humour on your Lego bricks. A ‘LOL’ response isn’t good enough, the winner will be a ‘ROFL’.

4th Prize - The most piratical entry

    7415 Aero Nomad
118 elements, 2 figures, US$20, 2003
LEGO > SYSTEM > Adventurers > Orient Expedition > {Mount Everest}
Sponsored by Richie
Build anything piratical. Anything. And build it well. Just make sure it’s piratical. (And if you’re not Australian, make sure it’s Aussie themed too).

3rd Prize - The most creative effort

Mel’s Mystery Prize

Sponsored by Mel
Mel is currently exploring all (or at least some) of the important european Lego venues for an appropriate prize for this category. Build with detail. Build with unusual elements. Build with SNOT, SCHLEIM or even MUCUS. Build with flair. But build it well.

2nd Prize - Woomera

    6939 Saucer Centurion
211 elements, 2 figures, US$27, 1994
LEGO > SYSTEM > Space > Spyrius
Sponsored by Richie
Australians will probably know about Woomera, Australia’s contribution to the space race (amongst other things). And a woomera is also a spear-thrower. Build the best Woomera themed MOC to win.

1st Prize - The best Australian themed entry

...it’s a new car!

    4404 Land Busters
772 elements, 0 figures, US$60, 2003
LEGO > SYSTEM > Designer

Sponsored by Mel and Ozbricks
This is the big one. The best Australian themed MOC. Fair dinkum.

A note on prizes
The winner of 1st prize has the option to take that prize, or one of the lower ranked prizes instead. The winner of the second prize chooses from the remaining prizes and so on.

The Fine Print:

Entry is open to all MOCs submitted by Australians, of an Australian theme, or submitted by a person physically in Australia. This gives Australians a certain edge, but doesn’t automatically exclude {anyone}.

Prizes include shipping within Australia.

Entries must be new. No MOC previously posted or shown may be entered. It’s about breathing life into .loc.au after all.

Entries should be posted to .loc.au (with a note indicated they are for the competition), and crossposted to any other groups the entrant feels relevent.

Entries must be posted by Midnight, May 31, 2004 AEST (or thereabouts)

Entries must include links to pictures, which the entrant allows to be reposted, resized etc as the judges require.

Entries may be rejected by the judges for any reason.

Judges are Mel and Richie. Their decision is final. And they may change the terms and conditions at any time.

Please direct any questions to .loc.au

Hooroo

Richie Dulin

Yayyyyy :D Thankyou Richie, Mel (wherever you are) and Ozbricks! But you could've waited until the JS pirates were released. I wanted to make a JS pirate ship totally in blue... Just a reminder that there's only a week to go. There are some good prizes (as well as a McDonalds Bionicle) up for grabs, and competition is not exactly overwhelming. Cheers Richie (URL) (20 years ago, 24-May-04, to lugnet.loc.au, FTX)
