How cheap is ‘really’ cheap? About the cheapest you’ll get is backpackers, if you can stand dormitory accomodation (although some do have single rooms for less cheap). Those places are almost theme parks in themselves, so you can kill two birds with one stone ;)

The Palace in Brisbane is about as central as you can get (about a block from Central Station), and looks like a reasonably nice place to stay. There are many others around.

I am going to be going on a trip to the gold coast from about 30/12/2003 to about 13/01/2004 or 14/01/2004 Current plan is to spend the first part of the time staying with relatives who live on NSW north coast near Lismore (because its cheap and I (...) (21 years ago, 26-Oct-03, to lugnet.loc.au)
