At the risk of over-analysing this further, I try to look at it from a kid's
perspective, or at least my own hazy memory of what a kid's perspective is.
My conclusion based on this is: I don't care. Lego was never, and indeed
still isn't a cultural experience, it's a build and play experience. I don't
really care how well it represents a culture, and if anyone gets offended by
how their culture is represented or misrepresented in LEGO perhaps should
take a closer look at their priorities. If I was an eight year old boy,
whether I was living in Shanghai or Sheffield, I think I'd still only be
interested in spaceships anyway.
That said, I am offended by Johnny Thunder's accent. Truly awful.
