Yes, I wondered that myself. Do these sets represent the Asian world
(geography, history, culture) as the people of the Asian world perceive it?
Or is it a representation of the Asian world as Denmark sees it etc? I guess
there is no way for you or me to answer that question, only those from that
Asian world are in a position to have an opinion.
But, then, the same question can equally be asked about many of the existing
themes?
Does the Western theme appeal or condescend to Americans? Native Americans?
How do Egyptians feel about the Egyptian Adventurers sets?
Bringing it closer to home, how do we dinkum Aussies feel about the Outback
Airstrip?

Shouldn't those minifigs be wearing shorts and an Akubra? Aren't Australian
parrots more multi-coloured than that? And why isn't there an Opera House in
the distance?
But then does Lego actually say this is an Australian set? Or did I make
that nexus for myself, triggered by words like Outback and images like the
Southern Cross windmill and so forth? [Incidentally nexus is a "quality"
word; I saw it this morning in an advertisement for a professor's job and
had to look it up in the dictionary, so today is "nexus" day for me and I
will be using it at all opportunities]. Are there people in Argentina (which
has many similarities to Australia) thinking this is an Argentinian set?
Maybe I look at these new Expedition sets and new Belville sets and think
"India", "Tibet" while people in those regions are looking at them and
thinking "Laos", "Iraq" etc. Perhaps they look at the snowy sets and think
"Switzerland"! Maybe they look at them and think "India but from a
European's eyes" and get offended. Maybe they think it better to have a
somewhat bogus representation of their country rather than pretend it
doesn't even exist.
Interesting question, really.
