Rule on thumb on pricing of assorted Lego pieces

Is there any rule of thumb for pricing a collection of assorted Lego pieces? Either by weight or piece count? I've had someone hint to me that they would be open to an offer to sell off an old Lego collection and I'd like to know what's a fair price (...) (25 years ago, 21-Sep-00, to lugnet.loc.au)

Re: When is Lego actually considered old?

(...) It's not possible to answer your question because the term "old" is a subjective term -- entirely dependent upon your frame of reference. To you maybe ten years ago is old, to me it might mean something from before I was born (say from the (...) (25 years ago, 20-Sep-00, to lugnet.loc.au)
