I had much the same experience with the same set at another Myer store. When I first took it to the counter the assistant said it was $49.95 but when my partner took the same set they gave him the extra 25% off. As to whether we were *supposed* to (...) (20 years ago, 4-Dec-04, to lugnet.loc.au)

That's extremely similar to one of the 3214 variants (which are all fairly similar to each other), from the looks of it probably just the 2x4 yellow printed brick, the 2x2 green corner corner slopes and maybe one other part I missed(?).
