Re: LEGO® is near an agreement to sell its LEGOLAND theme parks

(...) Last year 2004, LEGO had a net loss of about $335 million That might have something to do with it. Marc Nelson Jr. (URL) Marc's Creations>> (19 years ago, 1-Jun-05, to lugnet.mediawatch, lugnet.legoland, FTX)

Re: LEGO® is near an agreement to sell its LEGOLAND theme parks

(...) Ok, replying to my own post...here are some more reasons TLG might want to raise cash (all purely speculative, of course): They are going to attempt to *buy* MegaBloks KKK and family is seeking an early retirement Realizing Galidor failed (...) In lugnet.mediawatch, Larry Pieniazek wrote: <snip> (...) As long as we are in a speculative mood...why does TLG want to raise money. Are they contemplating opening a factory in China? Is $450M+ enough to do this? Oh, I know...they need the cash to (...) (19 years ago, 1-Jun-05, to lugnet.mediawatch, lugnet.legoland, FTX)

In lugnet.general, Abner Finley wrote: (snip) (...) Jake said the key word is "speculated"... to me, the key word is "head scratcher" (well that's two words)!   Re: LEGO® is near an agreement to sell its LEGOLAND theme parks

(...) Just a short note... I am just reading the information based on wired services and other news outlets online. And yes the information is "speculated" not true information. (19 years ago, 1-Jun-05, to lugnet.mediawatch, lugnet.legoland, FTX)

Re: LEGO® is near an agreement to sell its LEGOLAND theme parks

(...) The key to this article is the word "speculated". I've just read on our intranet that this rumor is not true. Apparently, we are still in negotiations with more than one party.   Legoland Bid Deadline Passes

From the San Diego Union-Tribune printed on April 19th.   Re: Legoland Sierksdorf

(...) Thanks for these pictures, I found them very interesting. It shows that many of the park designs did not change for years, for example the boats (the ones that you sit in) are the same as the ones in the later parks. Interesting there is some (...)   Re: LEGOLAND is NOT closing

(...) A correction was aired on the show about a week ago with the deepest apologies of Marketplace. I guess LEGO is just looking for an outside company to run/manage the parks. Marketplace confirmed that there is no plan from the LEGO Company to (...) (20 years ago, 17-Dec-04, to lugnet.legoland, FTX)

  LEGOLAND is NOT closing

Why is it that some people just love to pass along bad news about TLC -- whether true or false (I think it's related to their jealousy that we obtain so much joy from the bricks and they cannot bear to see such happiness)? I'm not talking about the (...) (20 years ago, 16-Dec-04, to lugnet.announce, lugnet.legoland, FTX) !

  Re: Legoland Sierksdorf

(...) The scenes are dominated by red and white. The other 3 original colors appear as well, but green makes quite a showing as well. I don't think they were selling much in the way of green bricks back then. -- Tony Hafner www.hafhead.com (20 years ago, 14-Dec-04, to lugnet.legoland)

Re: Letter 1x1 tile packs at LEGOLAND CA

(...) Actually - for future reference - you miscounted. :-) The set contains 67 elements: two of each letter, two each of five diacriticals, plus an extra A, E, I, N, and O.   LegoLand sale moving forward

The newswire is reporting that Lego is forming a separate company out of the four parks so it can sell them. Then, it says the buyer is most likely Kjeld Kirk Kristiansen. Separately, Lego is also selling its controlling stake in the playground (...) (20 years ago, 2-Nov-04, to lugnet.legoland)

Re: Lego changes CEO after new losses

(...) Um, have you seen some of the Disney theme parks as of late? This would be a poor idea. Outsourcing parks like Legoland isn’t a bad idea, if you pick the right company to run them.   Re: Lego changes CEO after new losses

  Legoland Sierksdorf

As some might know, there was an early Legoland Germany in the town of Sierksdorf in northern Germany from 1973 to 1976. There is not much information about it here on Lugnet, but I actually visited the park in the summer of 1973. I was only 1.5 (...) (20 years ago, 18-Oct-04, to lugnet.legoland) !
