Hello Larry,
Well, the pictures on Shop at Home show the headlight bricks used in the
conventional way, with the side stud facing outwards. I assume these
pictures should be considered as the most recent and reliable ones.
Maybe, because it seems so logical to do, the "they should have done" lobe
of your brain took over from the "I've seen" lobe :-)
By the way, perhaps using the headlight bricks in a SNOT position is also a
possibility, this would make the window rims stick out a bit.
