(...) hmm.. we need horizontal log bricks so we can build log cabins.. shouldn't be too hard to make, and they'd be useful for all sorts of things (unlike lincoln logs) i had lincoln logs and tinker toys when i was young, but you don't see me using (...) (...) Allan, Care to make any comments on the current offerings of Meccano? I was in TRU the other day, looking at the Meccano area. Seems like a true-blue Meccano collector would have a worse reaction to the new Meccano than an AFOL does to Town (...) (25 years ago, 4-Nov-99, to lugnet.general, lugnet.off-topic.debate)

(...) Meccano went broke a long time ago! As for having a reaction...I think they'd drop dead!. I have a 6A book from my dad's stuff, as well as having read a fair number of the meccano magazines over the years. I have up to #3 set, and some (...) Allan, a very nice summary or overview of Meccano & Erector. I enjoyed both the article and the images. Your father did a very nice job. I hope the LEGO Group does take note of some of the lessons they could learn from the rise and slow decline of (...) (25 years ago, 5-Nov-99, to lugnet.general, lugnet.off-topic.debate)

There are a bunch of Meccano sets (as well as Lego) on DYA's sale page if your interested in seeing pics of current kits.
