You may want to consider other design factors like cheapness and piece count
reduction. Which can be seen by the differences in scale between say, standard
Star Wars fare and TLG's sets.

Actually my research paper is supposed to focus on SCALE as opposed to TLG or
any other company.  (But I wouldn't complain if that was switched around!)  So
I don't think I'll bring in Playmobil or Mega&@$! but I might mention Duplo
since those blocks are comparable in size to normal Lego bricks...

In regards to design factors, I'm not sure what to make of that at the
moment...
