    Scale of Lego —Bryan Wong
Hi, I am thinking of writing a research paper on the scale of Lego models/bricks. I was wondering if any of you have any suggestions as to main points that I should bring up? I think my main focus will be on this: How TLG itself has different size (...) (25 years ago, 21-Oct-99, to lugnet.general)

Re: Scale of Lego —Richard Franks
Is it set to be exclusively about TLG? I mean, you could take a tape-mesaure to TRU and see how TLG scales compare with say Playmobil or MegaB****cks. Or Duplo, whose figures are in a completely different scale to minifigs. You may want to consider (...) (25 years ago, 21-Oct-99, to lugnet.general)

(...) MegaBullocks? As in: - Never mind the M., here come the Birck Pistols? - MegaSandra M.? - A rabid flock of M. just gored a MegaMatador? ;-) Cheers, - jsproat (25 years ago, 21-Oct-99, to lugnet.off-topic.fun)

Re: Scale of Lego —Bryan Wong
(...) Actually my research paper is supposed to focus on SCALE as opposed to TLG or any other company. (But I wouldn't complain if that was switched around!) So I don't think I'll bring in Playmobil or Mega&@$! but I might mention Duplo since those (...) (25 years ago, 21-Oct-99, to lugnet.general)

Re: Scale of Lego —John Matthews
This was mentioned here before, and not by myself, but a good point would be that the classic 2x4 brick is approximately the same proportion as a common clay brick. common brick = 3 5/8 x 7 5/8 x 2 2/3 lego brick = 16 x 32 x 9.6 Build On!          Re: Scale of Lego —Bryan Wong
(...) Ahh... No wonder the classic 2x4 just looks so... natural to the eye. It's because we've seen thousands of the common brick in our everyday lives. Thanks for your input, John. Bryan (25 years ago, 21-Oct-99, to lugnet.general)

Re: Scale of Lego —Matthew Miller
(...) It may also help that 16/9.6 is approximately the golden ratio. (25 years ago, 23-Oct-99, to lugnet.general)

Re: Scale of Lego —Silas Pierrot
Well Bryan, here are some interesting minifig scale figures: If you assume that an average door is 80' tall and you apply that to the minifig scale doors, in proportion a minifig is 5'7" tall. Which is a good average height for a human. The amusing (...) (25 years ago, 23-Oct-99, to lugnet.general)

More scale questions (Was: Scale of Lego) —Jeremy Sproat
(...) I'd be curious to see what other commonly-used modelling scales there are, and what model genres are commonly used with them. For example, HO scale is commonly used in train models and is (I believe) 1/87; this makes a 1x4 brick approx. 9 feet (...) (25 years ago, 27-Oct-99, to lugnet.general, lugnet.build)
