An aside on the "Plagiarism" thread... —David Leese
Having seen the length Plagiarism thread that's been running on .general lately, it led me to thinking...           Re: An aside on the "Plagiarism" thread... —Jeremy Sproat
(...) Webster's is less than helpful on this word, so I went to www.dictionary.com: plagiarism n 1: a piece of writing that has been copied from someone else and is presented as being your own work 2: the act of plagiarizing; taking someone's words (...)           Re: An aside on the "Plagiarism" thread... —Mike Stanley
(...) So if I want to have a bard holding a lute or other stringed instrument I should find another way of doing it instead of going with the awesome method Tom created? Or are you saying if I do use Tom's method I should note it? I can see the (...) (25 years ago, 22-Aug-99, to lugnet.general)

(...) The latter. If you use his method, you *should* note it. However, we're our own enforcement here, so if you don't want to give credit, you don't *have* to.      I don't it is wrong, necessarily, if I saw his model, and recreated it because I thought it was cool, and just have it. But if you try to sell it, or when you take the same picture (What this whole issue is about), use it for your gain, and win (...) (25 years ago, 8-Aug-99, to lugnet.general)

Re: An aside on the "Plagiarism" thread... —Fredrik Glöckner
One of the reasons why I publish some of my models on the net, other than boosting my ego, of course, is to share my ideas with other people. If someone got inspiration from looking at my models and tried to make something slighlt different, I would (...) (25 years ago, 9-Aug-99, to lugnet.general)
