I am curious which LEGO sets are most common. For example, among currently available LEGO sets, which are produced in the greatest quantities, and therefore most widely owned (assuming they are not hoarded)? Is this information available directly (...) (16 years ago, 19-May-09, to lugnet.general)

(...) I would lean towards Star Wars, City, and Bionicle, simply on the basis that those lines are the top sellers for TLG over the past 2-3 years. Top sellers would mean that more production would be focused on the line to replentish sales, and (...) (16 years ago, 19-May-09, to lugnet.general)

The production rate, and the consumption rate (how well they are selling), is nice, but the number of sets owned in the general public is also a function (...) (...) Within a given theme, the smaller sets sell better than the larger ones because they're more affordable, but Brian has it right in that long-term production makes a huge difference when many popular sets can sell out in half a year. My guess (...) (16 years ago, 20-May-09, to lugnet.general)
