Re: How to properly "announce" MOC's Gereon Stein
Just a quick update: I've taken a little time and implemented a read-counter for web access to news posts. Now for display of individual articles you will find a new header line saying "Viewed: X times" - it should show the actual views of that (...) (16 years ago, 7-Jul-08, to lugnet.general, FTX) !

(...) Holy @#%$!!! That was some fast programming, sir. I bet this may even surpass invite to chat in terms of Great Contributions to the Community! (...) lol - amen to that brother!! (16 years ago, 8-Jul-08, to lugnet.general, FTX)

Re: How to properly "announce" MOC's —Allister McLaren
(...) I'm sure no-one will abuse the system by reloading the page multiple times to increase their own view count either. Just like no-one self-spotlights now ;) (16 years ago, 8-Jul-08, to lugnet.general, FTX)

Re: How to properly "announce" MOC's Gereon Stein
(...) ;) You know, I actually could have implemented some kind of reload-blocking, but then again I'm pretty sure the effort wouldn't pay off in the long run. I have just checked the read counts collected since the update, and it lists some 16,000 (...) (16 years ago, 8-Jul-08, to lugnet.general, FTX)

Re: How to properly "announce" MOC's —Brendan Powell Smith
(...) First of all, this is a really nice addition to LUGNET. Thanks, Jerry. Even apart from the worry over some LUGNET posters intentionally driving up their own "view counts" for egotistical reasons, I would appreciate some sort of reload-blocking (...)          Re: How to properly "announce" MOC's —Steve Bliss
(...) I second this thinking. (...) I agree that thumbnails would be cool. I disagree about swapping Top Stories and Latest MOCs. LUGNET is primarily a discussion site, so the stories should remain the focus. Since the center-column articles are (...) (16 years ago, 11-Jul-08, to lugnet.admin.suggestions, FTX)

Re: How to properly "announce" MOC's —David Koudys
(...) This is a fantastic implementation! Nicely done! Will there be a future state where we'll get nightly (or weekly) listings for top read articles akin to the top sets list that LUGNET automatically generates? Just wondering. Keep up the (...)         Re: How to properly "announce" MOC's Gereon Stein
(...) I admit I have been tempted to do so already - however the figures as of now are not exactly meaningful yet. This may change rather quickly. I wouldn't want to encourage anyone to "click their posts up the charts" though, if you see what I (...) (16 years ago, 8-Jul-08, to lugnet.general, FTX)
