First the Pope, now this... (URL) No really, this is great news! I'd like to wish René lots of time, energy, wisdom and strength! (URL) (19 years ago, 13-Aug-05, to lugnet.general, lugnet.admin.general, FTX)

(...) Suz- Outstanding! This is really great news - I feel a lot better knowing that LUGNET will continue, and in good hands. Plus, I understand you did pretty well from this deal: (URL) I just hope Rene doesn't find raccoons in the servers! (URL) (...)   LEGNET to change hands while continuing normal operation

Dear readers, As some of you may have already known, Todd Lehman and I recently decided to limit our involvement in LUGNET to the end of this Fall. We both will always love LUGNET and feel great pride in what its users have grown it into, but we (...) (19 years ago, 13-Aug-05, to lugnet.announce, lugnet.general, lugnet.admin.general, FTX) !!

  Re: Whither BrickWiki?

(...) Just to let everyone know, contrary to how it appears, BrickWiki is actually working (just very slowly). Tim (19 years ago, 11-Aug-05, to lugnet.general, FTX)

  Re: My collection

(...) Please tell us (to the nearest few thousand) how many parts you have. I could estimate the packed volume of (and hence vehicle required to move) my own collection if I knew (it's in four rooms at the moment!) Mark (19 years ago, 11-Aug-05, to lugnet.general)

Re: Set 10030 ("Imperial Star Destroyer") re-release comments

(...) To the best of my recollection, no. Certainly not anything memorable, like a 1x16 Technic brick or a plate. It seemed to crumple very well, and the pieces sprang apart rather than stressing the frame. (19 years ago, 11-Aug-05, to lugnet.general)

Re: 1962 Department Store Lego Christmas Display

I really like the slogan: "A toy for today and tomorrow" Truer words. . . Dave S. "Gary Istok" <istokg@earthlink.net> wrote in message news:IKzIGE.B9E@lugnet.com... (...) (19 years ago, 10-Aug-05, to lugnet.general)

  My collection

I packed up all my LEGO for my impending move to Hawaii. With the entire colection grouped in one location I felt compelled to a take photo and share with you: (URL) (19 years ago, 10-Aug-05, to lugnet.general)

  The Gothic Cathedral

Well I have been working on and off on this since 1996, so it is about time I posted some pictures.... but my Gothic Cathedral is (relatively) complete. With 20,000 pieces, the cathedral is based on a composite of 4 European cathedrals (that I have (...) (19 years ago, 10-Aug-05, to lugnet.build.arch, lugnet.general) !

  Re: Whither BrickWiki?

(...) Q: Why? A: The server is being rebuilt. Q: When will it be back? A: I don't have a specific ETA, but it sounds (third-party) like another day or two. I'll try to post when it's back. Q: Is it going to happen again? A: I don't know. HTHADNC, (...) (19 years ago, 10-Aug-05, to lugnet.general, FTX)

  Whither BrickWiki?

(...) The last couple of days, zapto.org seems to be down. Anybody know any details (like why, when will it be back, and how likely is this to happen again)? Just when I was getting into BrickWiki, too! :) Thanks, Joe (19 years ago, 10-Aug-05, to lugnet.general, FTX)

Re: Set 10030 ("Imperial Star Destroyer") re-release comments

(...) At Celebration III in Indy, we speed-built three ISD's in under 24 hours (!), and had the chance to (a) run around a crowded convention center "swooshing" an ISD, and (b) "splashing" the ISD afterwords (although only from a height of 3'... it (...)   Re: Set 10030 ("Imperial Star Destroyer") re-release comments

(...) Not at all. I keep one of my ISDs assembled (and at the exact same spot) since the day the set came out. No breaking or bowing there. It still looks as good as on day one. You can see it occasionally at brickshelf in the background of images (...) (19 years ago, 10-Aug-05, to lugnet.general)

Re: Set 10030 ("Imperial Star Destroyer") re-release comments

Hey Ryan, It is indeed a most impressive set, although as you figured out through painful trail and error, not the most transportable or even swooshable. It is gorgeous aesthetically, but structurally it' can become a nightmare. Don't keep it (...) (19 years ago, 10-Aug-05, to lugnet.general)

Re: Set 10030 ("Imperial Star Destroyer") re-release comments

Re: 1962 Department Store Lego Christmas Display

(...) Thanks Allan, I know I have been promising the Lego CD for a while now, but it keeps getting bigger. It will exceed 700 pages, and that's only 1949-80. Volume 2 (1980-2005) will be bigger, but that will have to wait until Volume 1 is finished (...) (19 years ago, 10-Aug-05, to lugnet.general)

Re: 1962 Department Store Lego Christmas Display

(...) That's a great picture! I was wondering what sort of photos you'd have in your book. Now I'm even more anxious to read it. :) Regards, Allan B. (19 years ago, 10-Aug-05, to lugnet.general)

1962 Department Store Lego Christmas Display

(URL) Christmas 1962, this photo was taken at Detroit's J.L. Hudson's Department Store, which was the 2nd largest department store in the world (after New York's Macy's store). This store window display shows the Samsonite Lego series of set, as (...) (19 years ago, 10-Aug-05, to lugnet.general) !
