  The Gothic Cathedral

Well I have been working on and off on this since 1996, so it is about time I posted some pictures.... but my Gothic Cathedral is (relatively) complete. With 20,000 pieces, the cathedral is based on a composite of 4 European cathedrals (that I have (...) (19 years ago, 10-Aug-05, to lugnet.build.arch, lugnet.general) !

  Re: Whither BrickWiki?

(...) Q: Why? A: The server is being rebuilt. Q: When will it be back? A: I don't have a specific ETA, but it sounds (third-party) like another day or two. I'll try to post when it's back. Q: Is it going to happen again? A: I don't know. HTHADNC, (...) (19 years ago, 10-Aug-05, to lugnet.general, FTX)

  Whither BrickWiki?

(...) The last couple of days, zapto.org seems to be down. Anybody know any details (like why, when will it be back, and how likely is this to happen again)? Just when I was getting into BrickWiki, too! :) Thanks, Joe (19 years ago, 10-Aug-05, to lugnet.general, FTX)

Re: Set 10030 ("Imperial Star Destroyer") re-release comments

(...) At Celebration III in Indy, we speed-built three ISD's in under 24 hours (!), and had the chance to (a) run around a crowded convention center "swooshing" an ISD, and (b) "splashing" the ISD afterwords (although only from a height of 3'... it (...)   Re: Set 10030 ("Imperial Star Destroyer") re-release comments

(...) Not at all. I keep one of my ISDs assembled (and at the exact same spot) since the day the set came out. No breaking or bowing there. It still looks as good as on day one. You can see it occasionally at brickshelf in the background of images (...) (19 years ago, 10-Aug-05, to lugnet.general)

Re: Set 10030 ("Imperial Star Destroyer") re-release comments

Hey Ryan, It is indeed a most impressive set, although as you figured out through painful trail and error, not the most transportable or even swooshable. It is gorgeous aesthetically, but structurally it' can become a nightmare. Don't keep it (...) (19 years ago, 10-Aug-05, to lugnet.general)

Re: Set 10030 ("Imperial Star Destroyer") re-release comments

(...) I'm curious about one thing - did any pieces actually BREAK in the crash? (19 years ago, 10-Aug-05, to lugnet.general, FTX)

Re: 1962 Department Store Lego Christmas Display

(...) Thanks Allan, I know I have been promising the Lego CD for a while now, but it keeps getting bigger. It will exceed 700 pages, and that's only 1949-80. Volume 2 (1980-2005) will be bigger, but that will have to wait until Volume 1 is finished (...) (19 years ago, 10-Aug-05, to lugnet.general)

Re: 1962 Department Store Lego Christmas Display

(...) That's a great picture! I was wondering what sort of photos you'd have in your book. Now I'm even more anxious to read it. :) Regards, Allan B. (19 years ago, 10-Aug-05, to lugnet.general)

1962 Department Store Lego Christmas Display

(URL) Christmas 1962, this photo was taken at Detroit's J.L. Hudson's Department Store, which was the 2nd largest department store in the world (after New York's Macy's store). This store window display shows the Samsonite Lego series of set, as (...) (19 years ago, 10-Aug-05, to lugnet.general) !
