Re: Why are slope bricks textured?

(...) Strange. I never noticed that before. I just checked the one 2x3 slope that I have from McDonald's, and it's not textured. Every other printed slope that I have is textured, though. -Elroy (20 years ago, 14-Mar-05, to lugnet.general, lugnet.parts)

Re: The various growing pains of Lugnet

(...) i usually don't post in lugnet for much more than announcing a moc, but i've been following this post with bated breath waiting for some kind of explanation or at the least, an increased curiosity as to the provenance of this piece. days i've (...)   Re: Why are slope bricks textured?

Something I have noted with recent roof bricks is that the texture on certain elements has become less and less. The 2x2 external and internal corner bricks I have had in recent sets and via pick a brick have been almost completely smooth. Pushing (...)   Re: Why are slope bricks textured?

Also, keep in mind that the slopes that came with the McDonald's Happy Meal sets a few years back were NOT textured. They had printed images on the sloped part, but if I remember correctly, that slope was smooth. eric harshbarger (...) (20 years ago, 14-Mar-05, to lugnet.general, lugnet.parts)

Re: Why are slope bricks textured?

(...) Do you mean part 3939? [LDrawPart 3939:46] Going by the data collected on Peeron, this part first appeared in 1978. For the next ~13 years, the part only appeared in transparent colors. So I'd guess it was intended as a windshield/canopy, (...) (20 years ago, 14-Mar-05, to lugnet.general, lugnet.parts, FTX)

Re: Why are slope bricks textured?

(...) What about the 3x6 slopes? Okay, I know they are a little different but they don't have that "texture" you are speaking of. (20 years ago, 14-Mar-05, to lugnet.general, lugnet.parts)

Re: Why are slope bricks textured?

(...) OK, I would love to give some special reason, but I know of none. Ever since the sloped bricks first came out in red (1958) and blue (1960), they have had the textured finish. The simplest explanation I can think of is because most roofs are (...) (20 years ago, 14-Mar-05, to lugnet.general, lugnet.parts)

  Why are slope bricks textured?

Its one of the most trivial things, but its always bothered me. Why have that texture on the slope end? What purpose does it serve? From the small selection of un-textured slopes we have, one can only infer that these would be less trouble to (...) (20 years ago, 14-Mar-05, to lugnet.general, lugnet.parts)

Re: AoJT3: Johnny Thunder and the King of the Gypsies (Update March 13)

Sorry for the long delay with the next installment, but I've hit a patch of real busy-ness with school and a bit of writer's block too. So the story has really stalled. I've been holding these 4 in reserve because I figured this would happen. Anyhow (...) (20 years ago, 13-Mar-05, to lugnet.adventurers, lugnet.general)

  Octagonal building technique: help!

I am in the process of creating a building that has eight sides. Four of them were easy to create as they are either perpendicular or parallel to each other. The problem is with the other four sides.   Re: "Ads by Goooooogle" at Brickshelf?

(...) Hmmmm. Their AdSense pages only seem to mention page content in regards to ad targetting, but it's not very detailed. It's possible it may also have access to HTTP request information, which it may be able to use to target ads too. ROSCO (20 years ago, 10-Mar-05, to lugnet.general)
