Use the following message to explain why _you_ are a "Fan No More"(tm).

While a message template is useful, I think what we really need to do is fully
exploit the magic of IT and instead have a WWW form on lugnet with little
drop-down lists and checkboxes etc, which is then automatically posted to
a set
of newsgroups determined by the choice of drop-down lists, checkboxes etc.

Then, through the magic of IT and as a LUGnet member benefit, in the LUGnet
member profiles, we can add similar checkboxes and drop-down lists for
strongly-held views, pet peeves and so forth with a slider bar for "level of
concern to me".

By using the magic of IT, all postings to LUGnet can be automatically scanned
for content relating to member views or peeves, enabling postings to be
automatically generated in response announcing disappointment, disgust, utter
revulsion, etc based on the member's identified level of concern over the
particular topic.

Naturally all of the generated postings will be cc-ed to Jake and any known
email addresses within TLC, thanks to the magic of IT.

Thus, through the magic of IT, LUGnet posters (and members in particular) will
be able to have their feelings made known on topics of concern to them without
the need to waste valuable building time writing messages.

And, as an added member bonus, there will be a checkbox in the member profile,
saying don't ever bother to show me any of these auto-generated messages,
thus,
through the magic of IT, saving valuable building time not reading such
messages.

Finally, since we will now no longer need to waste valuable building time
either
writing or reading such messages, through the magic of IT, we can
automatically
generate a statistics page on LUGnet showing the traffic levels of these
automatically-generated messages, thus showing at a glance what are the issues
of concern to LUGnet members, enabling Jake and others at TLC to see at a
glance
what the burning issues are, saving them valuable time by not having to
read all
those messages in their inboxes, or conducting polls. Did I mention the
magic of
IT in that last sentence? If not, I'm sure I meant to.

You do not go far enough!

We could further save bandwidth by taking everyone's generated opinions and
converting them into a handy string of numbers that represent their
feelings on issues. (all done using the magic of IT, of course).

With the magic of IT, we could further save bandwidth by "compressing"
these strings of numbers to a smaller string of numbers. Then with
cross-reference tables, to simple strings of letters.

We can then aggregate all the opinions of everyone on LUGNET who has
bothered to have an opinion into a single message post containing the
usernames and their compressed opinion string. This message can be - of
course - further compressed using the magic of IT. Then rolled up and
compared to a pre-generated cross reference chart to determine the final value.

Then with the magic of IT, the final net result would be a simple short
message that can be sent to Jake and *@lego.com and anyone who did not opt
to not receive the message.

Sample final messages:

"You good, we happy"
"You bad, we not happy"
