I've heard that a "typical" smattering of parts is about 1000/kg, or about
450/lb. According to http://news.lugnet.com/market/shipping/?n=362 (and that
it's about $42.50 USD per kg) that would translate to 1 kg =
326 1x8 bricks (~13 cents apiece)
345 1x8 technic beams (~12 cents apiece)
5,687 1x1 plates (~1 cent apiece)
9,582 1x1 round plates (~2 for 1 cent)
For the right pieces, this sounds like it could be a great deal! Of course,
for other rare colored parts, it might be a deal at 13 cents apiece anyway!
