| | | I am bored today. Whilst sorting my LEGO collection, I started wondering what decides which parts will have holes in the studs? For example, a standard 2x2 brick has no holes in its studs, but all technic bricks do. I also found a 2x2 block that has (...) (22 years ago, 3-Nov-02, to lugnet.general)

| | | | | (...) Well, technic bricks are by definition superior, so they must be given the ability to be placed at 1/2 stud offset. 8?) Other than that, I have no idea. | | | | I think originally this is a molding technology reason: the studs can't be full or the plastic would shrink while getting cold (and stud dimensions must be very precise). So in regular bricks studs are hollowed from below. This is not possible for (...) (22 years ago, 5-Nov-02, to lugnet.general)
