Hi all!

Have you ever thought abou the maximum washing temperature for dirty Lego®
bricks?
At what temperature will Lego® bricks get damaged - for e.g. in summer in • your
car or in your house's Lego® room under the roof?

I did the ultimate test today. See the (partly surprising) results here in
this gallery (use the >> buttons to navigate from picture to picture).

This was heating in air.

Correct, Larry!

Can you comment on the shine of the elements?

Above ca. 90°C (when they began to get weak) the elements looked more shiny.
Like some Lego elements do it nowadays. (for e.g. this one in yellow looks
always a little transparent + shiny http://www.peeron.com/inv/parts/6583 ).

I have observed some
discoloration (whitening or fading) when elements are overheated when in too
hot water. Did you see any of that? The very melted elements seem quite
shiny.

Agree - the do in fact. But I have no idea how they would look like when put
into boiling water. Possibly the same?

I was astonished by the CA brick (the ones Lego produced before 1963). Those
get wharped even in handwarm water, but ths brick survived even 90°C better
than a modern one made by ABS.

Regards,

Ben

P.s.: I just added some english text into the gallery. I fear I made a mistake
by adding that directly to the picture name (the thumbnails look horrible with
that amount of text now)  and for sure I have made lots of language mistakes,
because I had to hurry... I will try to fix that later....
