Re: 2532 Passenger Jet: Your worst fears realized... —Gene Rodriguez III
(...) Steve, If I had to guess which airline, I'd put my money on ValueJet... [insert rimshot here] On a darker note, I think what it says is that thinwalls are still in production, while window walls are not. The difference in manufacturing costs (...)         Re: 2532 Passenger Jet: Your worst fears realized... —Steve Bliss
(...) Hmm. For the window-walls, they have to run two different molding productions, one for the white wall, and another for the transparent window. That would double the cost of producing window-walls. Then there's also the cost of assembling the (...) (25 years ago, 22-Apr-99, to lugnet.general)

Re: 2532 Passenger Jet: Your worst fears realized... —Scott Edward Sanburn
(...) I would think not. When I worked in a plastic factory, we ran numerous plastics on the same machine, with different dies. The only cost increase would probably more scrap (More chance for error than solid parts) and the cost of the plastic (...) (25 years ago, 22-Apr-99, to lugnet.general)

Re: 2532 Passenger Jet: Your worst fears realized... —Jeff Stembel
(...) The Walls are still in production. The big Adventurers set has one. No panes, though, so they might not be in production. (...) Those windows have *never* been pre-assembled. I have some from their first year's release, and I had to snap the (...) (25 years ago, 22-Apr-99, to lugnet.general)

Re: 2532 Passenger Jet: Your worst fears realized... —Scott Edward Sanburn
I thought they were pre-assembled after a time, probably using a heat weld. Hmm... Time to look at some models.... Scott Sanburn (...) (25 years ago, 22-Apr-99, to lugnet.general)

Re: 2532 Passenger Jet: Your worst fears realized... —Larry Pieniazek
(...) The smaller airplane windows come with a separate pane, I think. However, there is an older thinwall with an embedded (molded in, or very tightly glued) trans lt blue window. This is a thinwall that is 1x4x3 rathdr than the 1x4x2 dual (...) (25 years ago, 22-Apr-99, to lugnet.general)

Re: 2532 Passenger Jet: Your worst fears realized... —Jeff Stembel
(...) Older? I thought that piece came out in the early to mid '90s. Can you cite a set that those came in that was before the '90s? The Airplane panels came out around 1985. Jeff (25 years ago, 23-Apr-99, to lugnet.general)

Re: 2532 Passenger Jet: Your worst fears realized... —Larry Pieniazek
(...) That's a Joshua D. kind of question. I may be (probably AM!) wrong. I just saw it at Conan's place the other night and I could not think of a set it was from so I assumed it was older. (25 years ago, 23-Apr-99, to lugnet.general)

Re: 2532 Passenger Jet: Your worst fears realized... —Joshua Delahunty
Larry, do you mean the window in (URL) so (and I'm presuming this is the case, since I can think of nothing else you might mean), then this is a new-for-'94 element, as Jeff says. Rare item. It's in those two and the soccer/football-stadium "First (...) (25 years ago, 25-Apr-99, to lugnet.general)

Re: 2532 Passenger Jet: Your worst fears realized... —Larry Pieniazek
Yup, those are it. But I don't think the stripes are stickers on the ones Conan has. He had enough for me to make two passenger cars using them, so I will check on wednesday to see if I was misremembering about the striping. Am I all wet on this (...)          Re: 2532 Passenger Jet: Your worst fears realized... —Mark Herzberg
(...) On the 6666 they are stickers, and I'm pretty sure they are on the 6548 too. I'll have to check though, don't have that set with me handy. (25 years ago, 26-Apr-99, to lugnet.general)

Re: 2532 Passenger Jet: Your worst fears realized... —Tom Stangl
(...) Not really - look at the one Adv set that uses a thinwall with NO pane. IF they were doing it to save money, they'd leave off the windows, even if that means people asphyxiate on the flight ;-) (...) Um, any that have been released in the last (...)
