They are a lighter blue than the Scala accessories. Scala colors are all
off, and almost never seen in system sets (I haven't looked at colors in
4721, 4722, and 4723 to see if any of the oranges match Scala colors).

They are the same light blue as in the Mars sets. I think this shade of
blue is very close to Maersk blue, but not quite the same (I don't have
any Maersk blue to compare).

For once, my memory didn't fail me and when I returned to my favorite
Wal-Mart haunt last night I did find a couple of copies of 4579 in the
clearance aisle for half-price (it took a lot of shifting and digging but I
finally found them!).  So now I've got myself some of those blue barrels.

Now that I've opened up one of the sets and started poring over the parts I
remember reading the reviews of this set when it first came out.  It does
have some good parts (and colors).  I like the white burps (and white
plates), trans-blue crystals, and even some of the pre-printed, weirdly
shaped racer pieces.  It will be fun trying to figure out how to incorporate
some of those into other MOC's.

I really like the selection of pieces that come in the light blue color.
There's enough (especially with 2 copies of the set) to make it feasible to
create a small building using this color in conjunction with another.  I'm
already thinking that my winery/wine bar MOC is going to be built with this
light blue and probably yellow (yellow because I also plan to incorporate
the duplo printed grape bricks into it and those bricks are yellow).

At first I thought the blue was the same color as the scala parts.  After
closer examination I did come to the same conclusion as stated by Frank.
The scala pieces are slightly darker than the Racers/LoM blue.  They're
definitely close enough though that it's hardly noticeable so I will be
proceeding with my project combining the blue barrels with the blue wine
bottles.

Frank's question about the orange in the Scala sets compared to the orange
in the HP sets was one I'd already asked myself.  To me they look the same
(even after a second examination).  I compared the light orange pieces used
for the bed in 4722 to the light orange, poopish chair element from 3110 (a
keen little accessories set I've been meaning to rave about).  They appear
to be the same shade of light orange.  So far I haven't accumulated enought
elements in this color to really do anything with it.

That's all for now - back to looking at my 4579 and trying to decide whether
it's worth it to even try and put the model together and "play" with my racers.

(...) Ooh, lucky. I've been waiting to get a couple more of these on sale. (...) Must be the same then. Two of those chair pieces from 3110 make a nice little gondola body for a short train car. I've also got a blue one. Frank (22 years ago, 3-Feb-02, to lugnet.general)
