X-Planes - building and inspiration —Bram Lambrecht
Having just built a Bell Aerospace X-22A experimental aircraft ( (URL) I decided to do a little research about X-Planes on the web, possibly to find more inspiration.         RE: X-Planes - building and inspiration —Ralph Hempel
(...) Ahhh, Ooohhh.... The first link is an amazing quality rendering. I had to look twice to make sure it wasn't a good quality photo. The tires on the rotor fan housings gave it away.       (...) Those are Space wheels - hard plastic. (...) Yeah, well, the Red Fury will be good for parts, considering it has 2 Supercar rims. (26 years ago, 30-Mar-99, to lugnet.general, lugnet.build)

Re: X-Planes - building and inspiration —Gregor Benedikt Rochow
(...) Yes...but a '99 retailer's catalog a had a quick look at (for the 8448 arrival date - it didn't have it at all!) had a note saying that the MSRP would be $50... And from that picture, it appeared even scrawnier than in those catalog scans. (...) (26 years ago, 30-Mar-99, to lugnet.general, lugnet.build)

(...) That's just regular L3P/POV-Ray output! A photograph would probably have been worse- black usually doesn't show up well in photos. (...) Tom is correct, they are plastic space wheels (part 2515) (...) Thanks! (...) It's too dense for TLG :( (...) (26 years ago, 30-Mar-99, to lugnet.general, lugnet.build)

Re: X-Planes - building and inspiration —Terry Keller
(...) Awesome, Bram. Got any more angles of it? And as Ralph said, good use of that wide very low slope piece. I bought a level crossing just to get a couple of those in gray, and have yet to find a good use for one. I love aircraft, but they are a (...)          Re: X-Planes - building and inspiration —Bram Lambrecht
(...) Not yet, sorry. I'll try to render some more views as soon as I have time. (...) Actually, I didn't use that piece in the model that I built IRL (which is slightly different in other ways as well.) It was just an idea that came up while I was (...)          Re: X-Planes - building and inspiration —Terry Keller
(...) Exceptions to the rule. :-) The Apache somehow came out extraordinarily well. It surprised me. And wait till you see the x-wing. Another surprise. I would like to do some good fighter aircraft, but those damn curves keep screwing things up. (...) (26 years ago, 1-Apr-99, to lugnet.general, lugnet.build)
