Hi,
The V-22 look close to the X22 because it was develop by Bell-Boieng on the
work done by Bell on the X22. But it is not a new concept: in the 60's Canadair
(www.canadair.ca) now Bombardier aeronautique base in St-Laurent Quebec (Hey,
that's where I live) build 4 prototype that where tested by the Canadian Armed
Force. you can see a picture and a small history at:

It is the only photo I found so far on the net but It was also tested in
landing ( I saw picture on paper) on the Canadian Navy Bonaventure aircraft
carrier (yes we had some before)
