Ahhh, Ooohhh....

The first link is an amazing quality rendering. I had to look
twice to make sure it wasn't a good quality photo.

That's just regular L3P/POV-Ray output!
A photograph would probably have been worse- black usually doesn't show
up well in photos.

The tires on the rotor fan housings gave it away. Are they
DUPLO/TOOLO models?

Tom is correct, they are plastic space wheels (part 2515)

The windshield from the Model team helicopter and that crazy
wide very low slope roof piece finally have a worthy home.

Thanks!

This is the Model Team TLG should be able to do...

It's too dense for TLG :(  Also, TLG has never included a motor in a
Model Team set or even geared anything more complicated than steering.
(The X-22 has a motor inside which turns all four fans simultaniously at
the same speed.)  It's time TLG did something a little more complicated
outside of Technic...

Yes, it's inspiring.

Great!  So, which X-Plane are you going to tackle? :)  (I like the X-29
and a few of the other more interestingly shaped planes- there's another
with tilting rotors, for example)
