Lego is all about creativity, right?
Let your imagination run wild, build whatever you want, etc

So, where is Lego's creativity?

The imagination and creativity has always come from the people who play • with
the toys, not the company who designs them.

Certainly not always.
Don't forget the sheer genious 'built into' the better Technic sets from the
past. Just 'watching' them take shape in your hands can be very fulfilling.
Every LEGO set should offer such a moment of fascination or surprise
somewhere during the building process. It is exactly this enjoyment which is
(in many sets) phased out as juniorization moved in; even in *some* of the
larger Technic sets. (E.g. a motor & batery holder & wheel drive as one big
part and even engine cylinders without pistons!).

(...) The imagination and creativity has always come from the people who play with the toys, not the company who designs them. There isn't really anything creative about building a LEGO kit by the instructions, no matter how good the model/theme is. (...) (23 years ago, 7-Aug-01, to lugnet.general)
