  Yellow Castle Style Helmets (was Re: Why aren't we going crazy?!?)
 
(...) Okay, just to be sure -- I am talking about the type of helmets used in classic space. Are these the same as are used in the yellow castle -- I mean, obviously without the the visors, but is the underlying helmet the same? I have quite a few (...) (...) I have to agree with Lar on this one. Though most of my classic helmets are not split, several are. Under lots of use, ie, taking the helmet off 40 times a week (this is not unrealistic. I have 2 boys and for some reason, they have more fun (...) (23 years ago, 22-May-01, to lugnet.general)

(...) Also remember that in about 1984? they reinforced that classic helmet with a thicker chin strap. I have a few of each, and the thicker ones are much stronger. GREG~ (23 years ago, 22-May-01, to lugnet.general)

You took good care of your toys. :^) Some of the classic helmets have thicker reinforced chins - I think they modified the design of the element around 1983 or 1984. (...) Wow, I'd never noticed that. You're right, the helmet styles changed in the early 80's to have a thicker chin guard. But even still most of my early helmets are not cracked in the chin area, and I really played with those sets heavily. I have (...) (23 years ago, 23-May-01, to lugnet.general)
