Jay,

The Throwbot "ankle" part, as seen on:
http://w3.one.net/~hughesj/technica/registry/throw/throw_1.htmlp
is the ball and socket joint used in the Stormtrooper (I'm not sure about
C3PO, I don't have it).

As for the "ball and axle" part, the image is missing the little black ball
that fits into the socket, but the ball does not have an attached axle.
There is a cross-hole in the ball so that you can insert any length axle.

I don't own any throwbot sets, but I'm guessing you'll find this part in • them.

If anyone else knows more on the subject, or can get a close up picture of
the joint (with ball), please post a message here.

T. J.

Thanks T.J. I just assumed the axles were attached. Well, this puts a slight
crimp in my “home made” version of these parts, I guess my parts will simply
have permanent axles. It won’t be as accurate to the real thing, but it is a
lot cheaper and I can make as many as I want.

By the way, the link you posted was a dead end, I got an “error (404): URL
missing”, message.
As for the Throwbots, I have a couple Jet 8504 and Electro 8507, but there
are no ball with axle-hole parts in those sets. Perhaps in the newer
throwbot or the upcoming Bionicle sets will.

Thanks.

Jay

The bionicle sets have that part! It  is seen best on Tahu's chest. I'm not
sure, but I think the stone bionicle (stone, not earth) has 2 of these. Can
someone confirm this?

(...) Yes, as I said in my previous article on this group, Pohatu has two of the elements. Fredrik (23 years ago, 5-May-01, to lugnet.general, lugnet.technic)
