As for the LEGO logo, the early Samsonite logo was slightly smaller, and • yet
fatter.  The Samsonite LOGO was used only in North America.  Of the • hundreds of
sets that I have purchased in Europe, never once did I find this LOGO in • one of
their old sets.

I have found two different types of logos on the 1x2 bricks without the stud
underneath. One is very dirty and scratched and has a more pronounced and
vertical Lego logo on the stud. The other one is almost like new with a logo
slightly slanted to the right and less pronounced on top of the stud.

The mold mark appears to be on a lower corner of a 1x side rather than in
the middle of a 1x side.

I know this is tedious, but I find the differences in the old bricks very
interesting.

(...) Perhaps its time for a gallery on the evolution of Lego brick molding ? Something that would help people identify or date older bricks. Ray (24 years ago, 6-Feb-01, to lugnet.general)

(...) You are most welcome! The 1xN bricks without posts were around until around 1968, which is pretty late. There are a lot of late 1960's sets that have a mixture of pieces with and without posts, some are Cellulose Acetate, and some are ABS. (...) (24 years ago, 5-Feb-01, to lugnet.general)
