Just passing this along in case anyone's interested. I wrote a long message
about being concerned that they are pricing themselves out of existence,
here's what I got back:
Dear LEGO® Builder,
Thanks for your recent comments. LEGO toys are molded with the highest
quality plastic material (primarily ABS) by precision equipment so that
they are durable and long lasting. Because the are made to such high
quality standards, they can be played with for years. In fact, parents
have informed us that their children are playing with the bricks they
had as children. Additionally, because they are part of a system, the
bricks that one may have purchased 2 years ago, for example, will
interlock with the elements from a set purchased today. Because they
are long lasting and part of a system, LEGO toys are a good value.
We certainly appreciate your concern about pricing and I will be sure to
pass your email on to the appropriate department managers. Thank you
again for writing. Happy Building!
