Did we win the argument..? I mean Town Jr gone from the range... Maybee it
didn't sell ;-)
So far in terms of Jr we have had :
City Center - Town Jr...
Knights Knigdom - Castle Jr...
Life On Mars ...(Nice new idea ) but I am getting waves of Space Jr off it..
Racers - Defintly Jr..
But Technic's improving and there is Aplha Team...
What I am Thinking is that perhaps TLG has learnt the lesson about Jr but is
unfortunatly stuck with Themes at lauch stage given the Three year
devlopment cycle.. (Apparently they dumped nearly a 1000 designers in
1999?) It will take at least until 2003 for the problems of Jr to fully
disappear!

TLG History 2001-2010
2001 The dawn of the new millenium brought a Dark phase for The Lego Group
givne the disastrous failure of Life on Mars and Racers. Customers turned
away in droves stating that ' It's just not Lego Anymore!' But as one
commentator remarks 'the dark comes before the dawn'..
2002 Lego's fortunes are partly restored when Potter sets sell out!!
2003 The Lego-bahn Model Raliroad is launched. Owing to advance internet
odering distributors are sold out within 24 hours of the launch!. During the
year LGB sees its market share seriously eroded- Lego Futura also launchs a
new centre for idea devlopment after the diastrous claim of a rival that an
idea of thiers was stolen!! Lego in oredr to protect its patent grants a
license to select fans to devlop thier own ideas under TLG supervision.. The
scheme produces a wealth of new ideas..
2004 Lego Contract launched. Within 2 moths it is supllying unique soloutins
to a number of Blue chip companies. By the end of th year the company now
accounts for a substantial propotion of TLG income..- A dirty tricks
campagin by a rival backfires, Lego granted excptional protection after an
anti-trust suit fails spectacularly.-Phantoma 'The Strange Case of the
haunted Brick' premieres in cinemas on Oct 31st 2004. Within hours stores
have requests for the haunted house tie-in sets..
2005 Lego at Home becomes a sales force at last... Party plan Lego bricks
yipee!!- the Phantoma Sequel scores highly with the critics... Blockmen is
held to have influenced a teenagers killing spree. The public backlash
virtually drives the holding company responsible for it out of bussiness..-
2006 Lego is in talks with the Penguin!! Apparently Lego saw a simplifed
interface written for Linux and liked what it saw. Lego adopts the Linux
wholeheartdly from RCX upwards to the Lego Brand PC!!!- Despite vigorus
testing a major bug slips into a release product.. Within 2 hours(!) of the
fault TLG recives a call from a mystery indivdual claiming to have not only
fixed th bug but improved the speed of the code.. -LDraw-CAD adpoted as an
'offical' standard... Within 6 Months The Lego 3D 200X Standard devloped in
consultation with the fans is voted higher than AutoCad in a proffesional
journal for Architectural design...
2007 Optrix- Given the devlopments in Light Emitting Polymers Lego embraces
the technolgy in its products.. Glowing bricks, laser fx, and fiber optics
become part of the selection of lego(R) elements.
2008- In th 50th Year Lego has biggest party ever!!- and the first
celebration is the opening of Legoland Tokoyo! A special Set containg
golden bricks is released in a limited edition. The sets are distributed to
the winners of the 2008 Building challenge. - Mars base 2020 is relased-
uitlising elements from the classic space range of the 80's... LUGNET
recives a cry for help when TLG finds the moulds missing!! The fans help out
with the aid of the DAT parts files first created over 10 years earlier..-
NASA sets sold in US..- ESA Sets sell suprisingly well in Europe..
The year ends with a Staute of the orignal founder of Lego being unveiled at
the firms Denmark HQ.. US President and CEO, Brad Justus states ' In the
early years he had the vision to see the creative tommorow..'..- The remark
is later adopted as the advertising slogan...
'Lego- We have learned from the relective past, we embraced the
techonolgy of the present and we are helping 'build' the creative
tommorrow..'- After negotiaons with Fox - The 3001 original brick is used in
the Internet Video cast...
