It's hard to organise a big event, but a push in the right direction could
help: wouldn't TLC be interested to sponsor if the community organises
something similar?

Its always worth a shot.  They've been a lot more open to interaction
recently - perhaps it is something they'd be interested in.

I mean, they could sponsor bricks and perhaps exhibition space (I don't know
if Legoland Carlsbad has some halls for events like this) and let members of
the community (or a LUG?) organise the whole thing.

LLC doesn't have any convention areas, nor any really big indoor multi-use
rooms.  Its all gonna be outdoor if you were gonna hold an event at Legoland.
But if you do want to try to have one there, Ashley Glennon is the man for you
to talk to.  According to TLC's Legoland email address naming convention, his
email address should work out to be ashleyg@america.lego.com.

I mean it's a good
opportunity for them(TLC) to meet a different target audience than the kids
they usually design their stuff for.

For certain.

As a side note, there's the .datFest idea - which hasn't had much happen
because we haven't found much financial support yet.  I hoped to have it here
in Boston, and there are a couple sites that are possible.  If an AFOL-planned
Mindfest will happen, why not combine the two ideas into one event?

I haven't planned my next vacation yet but such event would be a good reason
to visit the US :-)

Yes, it would :)  Lego events rock! :D
