    Mystery brick —Wessel Burgers
I was going through my lego bricks last night and found what at first seemed a plain red 2x4 lego brick. But then I noticed that right in the middle of it there was a hole! The hole is right inbetween the studs: 0 0 0 0 X 0 0 0 0 where X marks the (...) (24 years ago, 31-Aug-00, to lugnet.general)

(...) Could be... the hole is about the same size as the holes in the old BASIC 2 x 4 Brick with Wheels Holder. I'll see if I can fit an old basic wheel into it when I get home. Wessel (24 years ago, 31-Aug-00, to lugnet.general)

        Re: Mystery brick —Gary Istok
(...) Interestingly enough I have a similar brick, but it is a red ABS 2x8 brick with a hole in the center, rather than to one side. I haven't had time to investigate it yet. But something tells me it is from the period 1966-75. Gary Istok (24 years ago, 31-Aug-00, to lugnet.general)

Re: Mystery brick (set 515) —Reinhard "Ben" Beneke
(...) That's too funny! There has just been a request on this special red brick in the German lego Forum for the 2nd time. That brick did come in at least two sets.    (...) Thanks everybody! At least most of the mystery that surrounded this brick has cleared up... Still curious about this dog though, should anyone ever find out more about it, please let me know. Speel Goed! Wessel (24 years ago, 1-Sep-00, to lugnet.general)
