I've been reading the LUGNET groups for a few weeks now and thought it's
time to say Hi. I'm 40, always loved Lego as a kid in the UK and have
played with my daughter's sets at intervals over the years, but for some
reason this Xmas I just got sucked right back in again. All the Lego (my
own stuff from the 60's and 70's and my daughter's) is in cardboard
"lingerie" chests <g>) in the living room and things keep getting built
every time I have some spare minutes. Great fun. Right now there's a
neat little red motor cruiser sitting on my computer monitor. complete
with all required nav lights (masthead, stern, port and starboard),
searchlight, radar, VHF antenna, anchor winch, horn and ensign. Oh, and
two liferings and a GPS. Can you tell I'm into boats in real life? It's
based on the design in the back of "The World of Lego Toys" but
considerably modified. I'm planning a dockside/harbour layout at some
future time.

Anyway, Hi, nice to meet y'all

Hi Kevin, welcome aboard. There aren't enough "mates" here. You'd probably
have something in common with the Pirates legoheads around here. If you have a
website with pix of your creations, we'd like to see them, so post your URL if
you've got one with lego. BTW, do you like the kind of lego boats that really
float? I have one (my only) that's an old police boat from the mid 70's where
I got my first minifigure.

40 is cool. I hope to live that long and still play with lego (I've got eight
years left) But there just might be someone older than you around here
someplace... :) I like boats too but haven't built any out of lego.

If you don't already know you might be able to access rec.toys.lego, a Usenet
newsgroup, if you have access to a newsreader. That's another place you can
read about lego, sales, auctions, trades, swaps, building tips, discussions,
etc. though because of its nature is not as structured as Lugnet. Beware
though - rec.toys.lego (or RTL) can have over a hundred new messages a day, so
if you're online billed by the hour, consider yourself warned.

Also, if you haven't checked out the rest of this site, it's a gem. Another
place you can find set instructions for many discontinued sets, if you didn't
know, is Kevin Loch's site, http://kl.net/scans .

Hi Tom, and thanks for the welcome. (...) I don't have a website yet. There are at least five I _ought_ to have up, but I have RSI already from too much computering (I develop software) so setting up websites comes below putting food on the table in (...)
