Yes, there are many uses for these hinges. The Medieval ones that I was
thinking about are octagonal or hexagonal buildings. Examples are: the
Florence Cathedral Baptistry, Aachen Cathedral Octogon, the many sided Chapter
Houses (meeting hall) of English Cathedrals, as well as polygonal east ends of
Gothic cathedrals. The real challenge here is how to roof over such structures,
as well as secure them to baseplates.
