About that FAQ ... —Jim Baker
(from rec.toys.lego) Also sprach Larry Pieniazek: : The situation is deteriorating, though, this site isn't even accepting : connections anymore. It gets posted to RTL periodically, but not since : April. Todd inhaled it: : (URL) (thank goodness!!!) (...) (26 years ago, 19-Dec-98, to lugnet.general)

Re: About that FAQ ... —Larry Pieniazek
(...) Yes. What a guy! Thanks for offering. I know Todd had someone else lined up to do it too, and was trying to organize a letter writing campaign. Dunno what happened or if Tom ever responded. Problem here is that how do you manage a transition (...) (26 years ago, 19-Dec-98, to lugnet.general)

Re: About that FAQ ... —Jim Baker
Also sprach Larry Pieniazek: : Problem here is that how do you manage a transition without stepping on : anyone's toes with no one that is the actual final arbiter? :-) : Sometimes hierarchy is good. I agree. If Tom's situation is temporary, and he (...) (26 years ago, 20-Dec-98, to lugnet.general)

Re: About that FAQ ... —Jeff Thompson
(...) I'd expressed interest in updating and revising the FAQ back in August and contacted Tom. Todd's post on r.t.l referenced that. Tom's response was that he would be happy to have submissions to the FAQ be emailed to him; he wasn't interested in (...) (26 years ago, 28-Dec-98, to lugnet.general)

Re: About that FAQ ... —Todd Lehman
(...) Say, Jeff, what do you think about a special multi-FAQ where questions (and their answers) could appear in multiple newsgroups? That is, what if you were to restructure the "main" FAQ something like this?-- Main FAQ file = Header List of (...) (26 years ago, 28-Dec-98, to lugnet.general)

Re: About that FAQ ... —Larry Pieniazek
(...) I think Todd has a neat idea technically. However my concern with multiple FAQs is the divisiveness factor betweeen RTL and LUGNET. Multiple FAQs within LUGNET would be very cool. Tom does not "own" the right to be the keeper of the FAQ. Nor (...) (26 years ago, 28-Dec-98, to lugnet.general)

Re: About that FAQ ... —Richard Dee
Why not an alternative FAQ?? The unauthorised, Kitty Kelly version, for instance? Quote, and give credit to, where it is due, or reference it extensively? It could be the official Lugnet FAQ/unofficial RTL FAQ.... Larry Pieniazek wrote in message (...) (26 years ago, 28-Dec-98, to lugnet.general)

Re: About that FAQ ... —Jeff Thompson
(...) This is an excellent approach to a LUGNET Faq. Which, I have grown convinced, is the bigger need. An r.t.l alt-faq can easily grow out of such a thing as well, but a LUGNET faq fairly screams from the sort of cooperation I think would make a (...) (26 years ago, 28-Dec-98, to lugnet.general)

Re: About that FAQ ... —Jim Baker
Also sprach Nephilim: : I'd still love to donate my time to such a project, and I : see now that Jim is also interested. Perhaps collaboration : is in order? I'll cc this exchange to Tom and see if his : opinion on the matter has shifted in the (...) (26 years ago, 28-Dec-98, to lugnet.general)

Re: About that FAQ ... —Greg Crisp
My 2 bits: I like the idea of a new FAQ, with information that is relevant. It is obvious that the current RTL FAQ is not a priority for Tom Pfeifer, for whatever reason, and the rest of the community is suffering for it. He needs to realize that it (...)         Re: About that FAQ ... —Jeremy H. Sproat
(...) I hereby announce that I will endeavor to slurp these questions into the LUGFAQ. And my hearty thanks go out to Jim Baker, for his previous work on the project. If anyone would like to supply answers to any of these, please post them! :-, (...) (25 years ago, 5-May-99, to lugnet.general, lugnet.faq)
