Re: Do you build sets you buy for parts?

(...) I never buy things for the sets -- all of the purchases are for parts. That said, I usually do put together the set first thing, partly as a sort of Lego Ritual. With a lot of technic stuff, I'm glad that I do -- I often learn interesting (...) (24 years ago, 6-Jan-00, to lugnet.general)

Re: Do you build sets you buy for parts?

Out of curiosity, am I one of the few who buy the sets for the sets. I don't typically build to many MOCs, and if I do it is from an old carrying case full of misc. pieces. Also, I store all my sets in their original boxes with instructions. Am I in (...) (24 years ago, 7-Jan-00, to lugnet.general)

Re: Do you build sets you buy for parts?

(...) I'm not sure. There seem to be quite a few people who do both, also. I'm a "sets are parts packs for my MOCs" kinda guy, though. I think the only sets that are staying assembled right now on my shelf are 6067 Guarded Inn, 928 Galaxy Explorer, (...) (24 years ago, 7-Jan-00, to lugnet.general)

No you're not alone in this, Though I fear we are a minority :( I do it a little different though because I do build a lot of MOC's.   Re: Do you build sets you buy for parts?

I used to build all my sets I buy. Then, after a few years, when I hade rebuilt them, lost parts etc. I mixed them in my big bucket. I used to do that way, but now, I buy some sets just for parts. But that is the BASIC sets, like 3040. My Star (...) (24 years ago, 9-Jan-00, to lugnet.general)
