SW: nothing new classic-wise, except the Snowspeeder wings are angled down
here-- perhaps hinged?  Looks much nicer, and includes a ground cannon.  The
sneak preview of the fighter craft from the new movie is VERY slick looking
IMO.

I don't remember seeing the Hoth lookout post before.  I assume that
either comes with the Snowspeeder, or is not actually available (but
LEGO doesn't seem to put not-for-sale decorative stuff in their catalogs
any more).

New baseplate: the Rock Raiders and large Amazon temple use a new baseplate.
Seems OK, as these things go: more generic (thus more useful) than the CRAPP.
Hard to tell if it's one plate, or two.

Hugely tall thing.  Will be good as the base for a small mountain.

The Adv. river boat looks really cool.  The ninja boat might be cool as well,
hard to tell.  I welcome the return of boat hull plates to these period themes,
I miss them (and IMO Pirates could have used more mid-size boats).

I'm really jazzed about the river boat.  That one took me by surprise.
I'm thinking "Queen of the Nile", now.  Gail Storm looks close enough to
Hepburn, but no way could Johnny Thunder pass for Bogart.

I just noticed... is that a new boat element in the large Amazon set?  (Off to
the side; completely missed it on the first pass through.)

It's not new -- it appeared in 1998's Belville Luxury Cruiser, #5848.

Space Port: nicely rounded selection, IMO.

Hmm. It looks like Space Port, Jr. to me.

Town Jr. How... uncompelling.

Yes and no.  Some of the sets look like they are at exactly the same
level as the 1998 Town Jr. sets.  But others look like they have raised
the part count somewhat.  I think this could be called "refining the
formula".

More completely random thoughts... (...) Ain't that odd? Appears in the main catalog, not in the 1-sheet. Also, the Snowspeeder is slightly different (flat vs. canted wings, plus a spot of red on the front in the 1-sheet version). Maybe the 1-sheet (...) (26 years ago, 10-Dec-98, to lugnet.general)
