Yeah, this was a case where I thought that the manager of that TRU should
probably take some time off work to take a few business courses, because what
they did was sure inane business policy (this was in Jackson, Mich. for anybody
who cares). This was the Friday after Thanksgiving--busiest shopping day of
the year. After I told the clerk what I wanted, she asked if Target had the
set in stock, and I said yes, at least they did 10 minutes ago. The clerk took
the ad, went over to the customer service area and had another employee call
Target. That employee must've been on the phone for 10 minutes waiting for a
response from Target, while the original clerk wandered sort of aimlessly
waiting for the other clerk to get the Target people to talk. After Target
told them they didn't have the set in stock, the clerk came back and said she
couldn't match the price, and asked if I had gotten a raincheck or anything
like that from Target. Whereupon I told her what I had told her the first
time--Target had the set in stock when I checked. So in order to avoid giving
me $30 in savings, two employees were occupied for 10-15 min. each, plus a
checkout lane was out of service, plus I was a tad annoyed. Great sales
strategy if you ask me. Oh, well. At least I did manage to get a 5542 there
using TRU Visa credit!
